I grew up in a small town known mostly for its two bars and four stop signs. In our late 30’s, my husband and I took our twins then age 6 on the adventure of a lifetime. We became American Expats in the amazing world of Asia, living in two large urban cities; one of which is the most populous in the world! A far cry from my home city/village with no zip code, right?
One of my most proud accomplishment is bringing my kidlets into this world along with being a successful Entrepreneur, changing lives one fitness class at a time. I am still madly in love with my high school sweetheart and passionate about all things food and travel. Every day I search for new ways to simplify my life making it more manageable allowing me to enjoy the awesome that is this life.
Since moving abroad in 2017 (repatriating in 2022) my view of people/places/things, life in general, has been seriously updated, revised, and interestingly restructured.
Currently, in my mid-40’s, I am doing my best to recreate myself after having been an Expat for nearly a decade and shutting my business in which to do so, my children are now just a few years shy of leaving the nest, and my husband’s career is once again blossoming here in America. It is obvious that my time is now and, frankly, I am ready.
So why “little shrimpy things”? Well, I will liken it to describing something indescribable… “Little shrimpy things” are all found all over Asia; in bulk in buckets in markets, and a necessary ingredient found in many dishes across Asia. The name just seems to resonate with me, that’s all.
You are welcome to follow along as I share my experiences and relive stories both as that small town girl and that urban visitor as an American Expat. I would love to educate my readers on how life is same-same on the opposite side of the world. And the absolute cherry on top may be in becoming your inspiration to take the take the leap to be comfortable in the uncomfortable, no matter what that means to.
I am sincerely thankful that you have stopped by. Again, welcome, lah.
